I would like to introduce myself as Trevor Powell, the author of Chepstow Walkabout . I am a former primary school headteacher and an amateur web design enthusiast. Currently unemployed, I moved to Chepstow with my wife, Lynne in May 2009. I come originally from the small town of Prescot on Merseyside and see many similarities between the old Prescot and the old Chepstow. Roughly equal in population, Prescot was dominated by the BICC telephone cables factory. I also run a very successful website for former pupils of Prescot Grammar School and passionately believe in bringing archive material within easy reach by use of the Internet.

Having moved to Chepstow, my wife being Welsh, I have felt very much at home and have developed Chepstow Walkabout as an educational tool as well as a time capsule of Chepstow of Autumn 2009. I have not staged any photos, taking my chances with the the autumn sunlight and local traffic! I used a modest Olympus Camedia C-3200 digital camera.

I have learned a lot about the town by undertaking Chepstow Walkabout. I have used a topological, rather than topographical, approach seeking to apply a grid pattern to the street plan of the town. However, the town does not follow a USA style grid and so some topological licence has been taken.

I will endeavour to expand Chepstow Walkabout as time allows using the photo album to record events in diary form as well as the Author's Blog!
